a gardening we will go...

I have a garden.
Yes, folks, it is true... The girl who couldn't even keep a plastic plant looking healthy and vibrant now has not just a garden, but a HUGE garden!
And not only that, but an organic one! Which means that I can't just spray the bugs with bug killer...I have to be creative in getting rid of them...Like smushing bug eggs and hand-picking the bugs off the plants! BLEH.
But I'm doing it!
I have taken over Noelle's garden plot while she is in Colorado this summer and I have planted, well... ALOT!
Here's the list and some pics!!!
Corn, corn and more corn
22 tomato plants!
Okra
Squash
Zucchini
Green Peppers
Red Peppers
Jalepenos
Canteloupe
Watermelon
Cucumber
Lettuce
and that's it...

Can't believe it without seeing it? Well here you go... I have posted pics from a few weeks ago and then some taken today. It is so amazing to watch how fast it all grows!
It is soooo fulfilling to do this... I can't even tell you.

the garden about 3 weeks ago...

the garden today!!! (notice the massive number of corn stalks in the rear...)

yeah, we'll be eating corn for awhile!

the watermelon plants 3 weeks ago... so cute.

the watermelons today! whoo-hoo!!! we have around 12-15 melons already!

this is a squash...no before pic, only today...

this is our spring mix lettuce...

and finally, one of my "patio container" tomato plants with my very first tomato ever!!!

(I have 3 on my front porch)

(we ate it and it was amazing, of course)

Thanks for sharing my gardening joy!

4th of July at the Square

We went to our local town square for fireworks and fun on the 4th.
Here's the pics...

"poor timmy"

This is the response I have gotten 99% of the time that I have shared our news...
We are having another girl!
We are thrilled and even though Timmy is disappointed, I know that he is going to be the one with the shotgun in a few years when the stream of boys begins at our front door.
So watch out you prospective callers... :)
Anyway, just wanted to share the news.
Have a girly day!

she finally did it...

Chloe woke up on Friday morning before our Atlanta trip and said, "Mommy, I think I'm ready to get my ears pierced!"
I about fell over from the shock.
I have been patiently waiting for my little diva to be willing to look past the possible pain and see the beautiful benefits of the wonderful world of earrings!
Well, we did it.
Actually, she did it, I just held her when she cried.
Very quietly for about one minute.
And then not another peep.
She was SOOOO brave.
And now she is so proud.
Getting prepared...

Checking out the needles...

uh-oh.

OOOOWWWWWWWW....

So pretty...

atlanta family reunion

We went to Atlanta to see my brother Mike, his two boys - Jonathan and Jesse, my dad and my step-mom - Gretchen. Summer rode with us from Athens...
Mike was there for a business conference and so we all met and had a family reunion!
We had so much fun visiting. We spent alot of good quality time, even if we were just playing rummy in the hotel lobby! :)
The kids enjoyed the hotel pool as well.
It was really the best family time that we have had in years!
Thanks Mike for planning it and thanks Dad for making it happen for us!
